Colonel Manuel Fernando Ramirez, MD
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Colonel Manuel Fernando "Manny" "Papo" Ramirez, MD, retired, a beloved father, husband, and dedicated physician who passed away peacefully in his sleep this past Sunday March 9th, 2025.
Manuel was a man of unwavering dedication, serving both his country and his community with distinction. He was a combat veteran who served in Operations Desert Shield & Saber and with JTF-Bravo. As a vascular and general surgeon, he touched many lives with his expertise and compassionate care, serving countless military members around the world and veterans in the Augusta, GA area.
He had a passion for bird watching, finding joy in the simple beauty of nature, especially in his love for cardinals. Manuel’s collection of cowboy hats and denim on denim suits was a testament to his unique spirit, and he was always known for his own special sense of humor and bringing joy to those around him.
Manuel’s legacy of kindness, strength, and compassion will forever be cherished by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Manuel is survived by his loving wife, Diana Ramirez, and his children, Manuel (Helen) Ramirez Jr., Juan (Elizabeth) Ramirez, Adriana (Mack) Scott, Anthony (Kaylee) Ramirez, Amanda (David) Fucella, and Nicholas Ramirez, along with 12 grandchildren; He also leaves behind his beloved sister, Lyvia (Robert) Moll, and many more loving family members and friends.
Flowers can be sent to the Platt's Funeral Home, who will coordinate delivery for the Bereavement Ceremony.
The Funeral Mass will take place on Friday March 14th, 2025 at 11:00am, location is St Teresa of Avila Catholic Church at 4921 Columbia Rd, Grovetown, GA 30813; Manny's internment and full military honors will take place following the ceremony at the St Teresa Columbarium; A bereavement ceremony for Family and Friends will take place following the internment for any words of remembrance and eulogies.
