Mrs. Mary “Cille” Lucille Dorrill, 99, died Sunday, August 15, 2021.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 21, 2021 at Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will greet those attending following the graveside service.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband Doris “Put” Alva Dorrill in 2003 and a son Robert Preston Dorrill in 1997. She is survived by her son, James “Buddy” Stewart Dorrill of Augusta and her daughter, Linda Patricia Dorrill Carroll of Augusta, Georgia.
Mary lived a quiet and humble life, doing all that was asked of her. She always put others first and was always there to help anyone in need. She gave freely of herself and was very dedicated to her family and friends. To all of those who truly knew her, she will be commemorated and greatly missed for her simple, unselfish kindness and remembered fondly as a beautiful, kind, honorable, and loving person.
Mary was born December 26, 1921, in Augusta, the daughter of Steely Preston Durden of Emanuel County, GA near Swainsboro and Virginia Packard Durden of Columbus, Muscogee County, GA. She worked seventeen years at Sibley Mill, sixteen years at RC Cola and twelve years at Wife Savers.
Also surviving Mrs. Dorrill are six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren: Angela Diane “Angie” Dorrill Howland (Bruce) of Leah at Clarks Hill, GA, daughter Kaitlin M. Howland Thigpen (Gary) of Appling, GA; Stuart Preston Dorrill of Augusta, GA; Amy Suzanne Dorrill of Atlanta, GA; and Robert “Bob” Arthur Dorrill (Amy Sue), and children Maddi, Jonathan, and David of Augusta; Debra Carroll Walls (Barry) and children Cody of Tallahassee, FL; Steven, and Emilee Dokoupil (Dalton) of Valdosta, GA; Adam G. Carroll (Teresa) and children Brittany, Katie, and Logan of Stafford, VA. In addition, there are eleven great-great grandchildren, Ava Grace and Baxley G. Thigpen; Sophia and Cameron Walls; Jameson Dokoupil; Grayson, Reagan and Adalynn Michalski; Baileigh, Kyle and Hope Carroll.
The family wishes to acknowledge and express their most sincere and grateful appreciation to Linda Dorrill Carroll for her loving dedication and live-in assistance she provided to her mother during the later years of Mary’s life.
If so desired, memorials may be made to University Health Care Foundation (2260 Wrightsboro Road; Augusta, GA 30904; Foundation@uh.org) in lieu of flowers to honor Mary’s exceptional care team.
