Mary M. Yeomans, 84, passed away on October 14, 2023 in Evans, GA.
Mary was born in Augusta, GA to Annie Louise Dixon McGregor and Charles Eugene McGregor, Jr. on October 2, 1939. She went to school at Sardis Girard Alexander High School. She graduated from Georgia Southern College with a degree in Early Childhood Education. She married C. Lindsey Yeomans on June 18, 1961 in Girard, GA.
She worked as a Elementary School Teacher for the Richmond County and Columbia County Boards of Education for 36 years.
She was a member of Trinity On The Hill Global Methodist Church for 56 years. She was involved in ADK Teacher’s Sorority, Willow Wood Garden Club, Loaves of Faith Bible Study, and Trinity On The Hill’s Adult Couples and Singles Sunday School Class.
Mary was a natural mother who nurtured all her students, cousins, children, and grandchildren. She loved sharing food and spending time with her extended Woodbridge family and teacher friends. She was fiercely competitive enjoying any kind of card game, but especially enjoyed playing bridge with “The Bridge Group” and “The Tacky Bridge Club”. She was very creative and spent time decorating, painting, creating floral arrangements, and baking. Her pound cake was a special family treat. Mary was a free spirit with a love for adventure. She had a bag packed and was always ready to go.
Mary is preceded in death by her husband C. Lindsey Yeomans, her parents C.E. McGregor, Jr., Anne Louise Dixon McGregor, her brothers Charles Eugene McGregor, III. and Martin Dixon McGregor, and her loved first cousin Joyce Dixon Kelly.
Mary is survived by her children and their spouses Lanee Y. Leverett (Ted), Deanne Y. Murphy (Randy), Mac Yeomans (Terri); her grandchildren Aaron Murphy, Sean Murphy, Teddy Leverett, Lindsey Anne Jacob, Austin Leverett, CJ Yeomans, Benjamin Yeomans, and Daniel Yeomans; her 10 great-Grandchildren, her two sisters-in-law Maurice F. McGregor and Carol C. McGregor, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Trinity On The Hill’s Adult Couples and Singles Sunday School Class.
Memorials may be given to Trinity On The Hill Global Methodist Church, Augusta, Ga.
The family of Mary wishes to extend our sincere thanks to her Woodbridge and Trinity friends.
Visitation will be 10 am Thursday October 19, 2023 at Trinity On The Hill Global Methodist Church. Funeral services will follow at 11 am.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am Thursday, October 19, 2023 at Trinity On The Hill. Arrangements are by Platt’s Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Trinity On The Hill GMC in Augusta, GA.
