Mary Scoggins Maxey

Mary Scoggins Maxey, 96, of Martinez, GA went to her heavenly home to be with Jesus on May 12, 2023.

She was born on March 11, 1927 to James and Fannie Scoggins in Augusta, GA. She graduated from Evans High School and worked as a pharmaceutical tech at Aiken County Hospital for over 30 years.

Mary was a devoted wife to her husband of 55 years, Charles Maxey. They enjoyed their time together and filled it with square and ballroom dancing. They also loved to go on cruises and traveling, with Florida being their favorite place to go. Together they went on over 25 cruises. Mary was also a loving mother and valued her time spent with family.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Charles Maxey; daughters, Deborah Nichols (Donald) Tabor and Donna Nichols Pryor; son, Dan Wesley (Rose Warner) Nichols; grandchildren, Bonnie Alexander, Shelby (Phil) Mullinax, Amy (Steve) Chase, Wesley Looper, Bradley (Kathryn) Nichols, Richard Nichols and Cody Nichols and great-grandchildren, Caleb, Courtnie, Mary Kayte, Caroline, Maddy, Meredith, Morgan, Savannah, Abigail, Hudson, Colin, Corbin and Lorelei as well as great-great-grandchildren, Leevigh, Dean and Gabriel.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents and son-in-law, Jerry Pryor.

Funeral Services, officiated by Chaplain Tom Kalliokoski, will be held on Thursday, May 18, 2023 at 12pm. The family will receive guests one hour prior. Committal will follow at Bellevue Memorial Gardens.
