Maryann Rogers Moore

Evans, GA – Maryann Rogers Moore passed away peacefully on Friday, September 23, 2016 at the Brandon Wilde Retirement Community in Evans, GA.

Maryann was a native of Bluefield, WV, where she was born on April 16, 1929 to Stanley and Ella Rogers. After graduating from Southern Seminary in Buena Vista, VA, she attended Richmond Polytechnic Institute (now VCU) in Richmond, VA receiving a Merchandising Degree in 1950.

While at RPI, she met Bob Moore, a student at University of Richmond, and they were married in Bluefield in December 1950. After living in several cities during her husband’s career progression at W.M. Ritter Lumber Company, they settled in Augusta in June 1961, upon its merger with GA-Pacific Corporation.

Maryann loved Augusta, her friends, and civic activity. Her community organizations include the Women’s Auxiliary to University Hospital, Augusta Symphony Guild (Cotillion Chairman, 1983; President 1988-89), Women in Philanthropy, and her passion, Augusta Town Chairman for NSCDA of GA. She was also active in her church of 55 years, First Baptist Church of Augusta. Bridge was her primary hobby, allowing her to spend extended time with her friends.

She is survived by her aforementioned husband, Bob; children, Bob Moore, Jr. of Blowing Rock, NC, Margo Barry of Houston, TX; grandchildren, Lee Moore, Aynsley Moore, Kirby Barry, Jr.; and great grandchild, Asher Barry.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at First Baptist Church of Augusta Storey Chapel with Dr. Greg DeLoach officiating. Entombment will follow at Westover Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Crusaders Sunday School Class.
