Evans – Mr. Melvin Baxley Roberts, Jr., 60, beloved husband of Julie Roberts, entered into rest on Monday, May 26, 2014.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm on Thursday, May 29, 2014 at Platt’s Belair Road Chapel with the Rev. Ray Farmer and the Rev. Brian Matthews officiating. Burial will follow at Bellevue Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Roberts had worked for 43 years at International Paper. He was an avid fisherman and loved the outdoors.

In addition to his wife, Julie, he is survived by his daughters, Terri Gibbs (Matthew), Rebecca Starling (Scott), and Amy Shouse, his parents, Melvin and Judy Roberts, his mother, Mildred Evans, his brother, Steven Roberts (Angie), his grandchildren, Parker, Chandler and Ansley Gibbs, Holden and Graycen Starling, Noah, Cami, Presleigh and Weston Shouse. He’s also survived by his beloved dog, Baxley and numerous, aunts, uncles and cousins. A brother, Michael Wayne Roberts, preceded him in death.

Pallbearers will be Matthew Gibbs, Scott Starling, Jerry Akin, Ricky McDonald, Jimmy DeLoach and Jimmy McKettrick. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the River House.

If so desired, donations may be made in his honor to the Calvary Temple Building Fund, 3343 Peach Orchard Road, Augusta, Ga. 30906.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening, May 28, 2104 from 6:00 until 8:00 pm.
