Mildred "Midge" Johnson

Mildred “Midge” Johnson, 90, beloved wife of the late Preston Johnson, entered into rest on February 1, 2021.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, February 6, 2021 at West View Cemetery with Rev. Milton Summerall officiating.

Midge and her husband owned and operated Johnson Grocery from 1948 until 1972 and following that they owned Johnson Curb Market for 35 years. She was also very active in local politics and loved supporting and helping the Harrisburg community. Midge was a member of First Christian Church.

Midge is survived by her sister, Doris Virginia Dent; her nieces, Terri Caldwell (Joseph Lawton) and Laura Tarver; her nephew, Richard E. Cropp, Jr. (Barbara Braidwood); her great nephew and niece, Joseph Caldwell (Greer) and Kristin Caldwell Evans (Ed); and by her many cousins and extended family members.

If so desired memorials may be made to the Augusta Dream Center, 3364 Peach Orchard Road, Augusta, GA, 30906 or to a charity of your choice.

Face coverings or masks will be required, and social distancing will be practiced. For those unable to attend, services will be livestreamed on Platt’s Funeral Home Facebook page.
