Rachel Druscilla Bramlett Patterson, 82, passed away on Monday, November 18, 2024, in Augusta, Georgia.
Rachel, also affectionately called Grandi, was born in Carrolton, Georgia, on August 11, 1942. She was the daughter of the late Glenn Lamar Bramlett and Inez Pettyjohn Bramlett, growing up in Rome and Dalton, Georgia.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, David Wayne Patterson, whom she married on June 27, 1964. For the last four years she was a resident of Augusta, Georgia, as a member of the Central Church of Christ. Previously she spent 15 years of retirement in Rome as a member of the Oak Hill Church of Christ, and she and David spent many years raising their young family in Woodstock, Georgia. Rachel graduated from the University of Georgia with a bachelor’s degree and a master’s in education. She taught elementary school for approximately 40 years, spending most of those years at Little River Elementary in Woodstock, Georgia. Her hobbies included sewing, cooking, reading her Bible, watching Hallmark movies, and shopping for a bargain. She especially loved to travel throughout the United States, visiting all 50 states and many National Parks. She could light up a room with her smile and her infectious laugh.
Rachel is survived by two daughters and sons-in-laws, Angeline and Kenneth Graves of Augusta, Georgia, and Amanda and Darrell Edwards of Dalton, Georgia; five grandchildren, Nolen Graves, Glenn Graves, Molly Graves, Rachel Edwards, and Reagan Edwards; one sister and brother-in-law, Rita and Steve Murdock of Rome, Georgia; and several nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the nurses and staff at Brandon Wilde Senior Living Community (Evans, GA) for caring for our mother with compassion and love. We are also indebted to Dr. Nadeem Afzal MD of Augusta Renal Physicians for his extraordinary dedication to his patients.
