Augusta

Robert Jackson (Jack) Nation passed away peacefully September 19, 2024, in Augusta, GA.

Jack was born in his Acworth, GA family home on August 8, 1938. He grew up surrounded by a large extended family which provided many wonderful memories and was the beginning of his love of sports and games. Jack loved and excelled at baseball in high school. His mathematical abilities led to a BA in Mathematics from Georgia State University. He worked for Lockheed for several years and left to form a start-up company in the very early years of computing. In 1971 he accepted a job with Westinghouse which led to moving his family to Austin, Texas. In the late 1970s he started a new career in residential home building and formed Jack Nation Builders. Jack loved Austin and fully embraced the Texas lifestyle. He enjoyed country western dancing, live music, Tex-Mex and barbecue joints. Jacks’s competitive nature and love of sports and games led to many fond memories for his children. There were many hours spent playing heated games of Monopoly, Scrabble and cards. Jack always made time to attend his children’s sporting events and ballet concerts. In later years he especially enjoyed watching and talking sports with Terry and attending grandchildren‘s events when possible.

Jack and Patricia reconnected at their Fulton High School Class reunion and were married in Albuquerque, New Mexico a short time after. After moving to Augusta, Georgia, Jack began working at the Augusta Country Club golf course until he retired. Jack and Patricia shared 20+ years traveling, square dancing and making new memories together.

Jack will be greatly missed by wife Patricia Channell, his children Teresa (Jim) Nuckols, Laura Sadler and his brother Frank (Nanette) Nation. He was pre-deceased by his son Terence Nation, his son-in-law Rick Sadler and his parents Herbert and Frances Nation. He was blessed with six grandchildren: Blake, Kellye, Sarah, Travis, Rachel and Avery as well as five great-grandchildren: Jovanni, Kennedy, Noe, Benicio and Ricky.
