AUGUSTA, GA -Sarah Marie Davis was born on May 27, 1926 to the late Henry and Mary Jordan in McDowell County, Indian Ridge, West Virginia. She was the youngest of nine children. She departed this life to begin her new life with JESUS on Tuesday, May 15, 2012, at Golden Living Centers/Windermere in Augusta, Georgia.
She was co-founder and long time member of the former Second Baptist Church in Easton, PA. She was recognized for her ability to organize & display loyalty and devotion to church work. Many will remember her blessing them with her gift to sing. Some of her favorite songs were "Packing Up Getting Ready to Go" and "The Lord Will Make a Way Somehow." She often sang in the nursing home where she resided the last 18mos. of her life. Many of the residents and staff would comment on how they were blessed and encouraged by her anointed voice when she sang her favorite hymns & gospel songs.
She was formerly employed by Easton Hospital in Easton, PA where she worked in Medical ICU. She was also formerly employed as a supervisor at Clinton State School in Clinton, NJ where she worked with "Mentally Challenged Residents." She was also very involved with community work in Easton, PA where she resided for over 48 yrs. She will be most remembered for the love that she had for her home on Kleinhans St. and how selfless she was in sharing it with those she loved. She welcomed anyone to come share in meals that she enjoyed preparing.
She leaves to cherish her loving and lasting memories: Her companion of over 30 yrs., Willie Smith, Somerset, NJ, her two children: Rita D. Smith (Franklin) Augusta, GA; Larry D. Davis (Diane), Columbia, SC; her sister: Virginia Wilkins, Easton, PA; her grandchildren: Antoinette Liferidge (Darrell), Columbia, SC, Monica Stephens (Lamont), Charlotte, NC, Larry Davis, Jr. (Tamiya), Bethlehem, PA, Itashia Davis, Columbia, SC, her great grandchildren; Asia Woolley, Jade Woolley, Trinity Davis, Isaiah Davis, Keliah Davis, Columbia, SC, Kyneshia Davis, Leon Stephens, Jr., Charlotte, NC, Aliek Davis, Aliyah Davis, Bethlehem, PA, her great great grandchild: Chiane Woolley, Columbia, SC; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
