Stanley Gordon Stonehill

Stanley G Stonehill, 75, passed away on March 15, 2025 after battling esophageal cancer. Stan grew up in North Augusta and graduated from North Augusta High School in 1968. He served 4 years in the US Air Force, retired after 28 years at Savannah River Site, then worked 12 years with the Columbia County School System as a school/special education bus driver.

Stan was a loving husband, father, and brother, and truly cherished his role as a loving “BearBear” to his grandchildren and great-grands. He had a very special place in his heart for all of God’s children and treasured his time spent making sure they got to and from school safely. His favorite hobbies included building model cars, spending time at the shooting range, and collecting war memorabilia.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Teresa Woods Stonehill and their children, Sean Stonehill (Wendi), Brian Stonehill, Travis Newsome (Diane), Tara Newsome Hobbs (Allen), Allison Stonehill Ferron (Randy); grandchildren, Tia Newsome, Morgan Stonehill, Kendall Newsome, McKenzie Stonehill and Tyler Newsome; brothers Scott Stonehill (Barb), Malcolm Stonehill, and sister Audrey Stonehill Hanson (Scott). Preceding him in death were his parents Howard and Shirley Stonehill and son, Timothy Newsome.

The family will observe a private memorial service at a later date. In lieu of flowers, Stan would have loved a donation to St. Jude Children’s Hospital in His honor.
