Martinez, GA – Sue B. Padgett, 75, entered into her eternal rest on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at her home.

She was born in Augusta, GA to the late Tom and Lila Buck. Survivors include her daughter; Molly Boyleston (Pete), grandson; Tyler Boyleston. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her loving husband; Bobby Padgett, daughter; Nancy Padgett, and brother; Frank Buck. Additional survivors include nieces and nephews; Valerie Knight (Chip); Christy Fulcher (Robbie); Kelly Harris; Eric Harris, Shawn Harris; John Padgett, several great nieces and nephews, sisters-in-law; Sue Buck and Reba Murray, and God daughter; Jo Lorraine Wolf. Special gratitude to Kathy and Kambria Kubinski for the loving care given to “Mrs. Sue”.

Sue is best described as a gracious Southern Lady who loved her family and friends very much, and delighted in doing kind deeds for many people. “Honey” was her nickname which was given to her by her grandson. As a faithful, long-time member of Martinez Baptist Church, she enjoyed teaching the Ladies Sunday School class and participating in all phases of this church.

After graduating from Tift College, she taught school in Columbia County and retired after 32 years of service. She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association and several generations of people are grateful to remember “Mrs. Padgett” as their teacher.

Being an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter No. 464, Martinez, GA and the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls, she served with pride in many capacities which included past member of Alpha Delta Kappa, Grand Chaplain of Georgia for Eastern Star, and State Mother Advisor for Rainbow.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM at the funeral home. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, April 27, 2017 at Martinez Baptist Church with Rev. Phillip A. Winsett and Rev. Mr. Joseph Soparas officiating. Order of the Easter Star services will be included. Burial will follow at Bellevue Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Gary Lee, Bruce Sammons, Randy Moon, Scott McDaniel, Eric Harris, and Shawn Harris. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Ladies Sunday School class at Martinez Baptist Church.
