Virginia Lee Langdale Miller

March 25, 1919 — March 16, 2010

Virginia Lee Langdale Miller died at her home on March 16, 2010. She was born March 25, 1919 in Valdosta, Georgia, the daughter of Judge Harley and Thalia Lee Langdale.
After graduating from Valdosta High School, she went to Shorter College and graduated with a degree in history.
She married James Raymond Miller, Jr. on September 18, 1941. After Raymond returned from serving in the US Navy in World War II, the couple lived in Baconton, Georgia before finally moving to Albany in 1954.
As a young lady, she was involved in the organization of the Junior Service League in Valdosta. In Albany, she was a member of the First Methodist Church, where she was a long time Circle member and chairman of the Alter Guild. The service she treasured the most was working on the needlepoint kneeling cushions for the church sanctuary. Virginia was on the Cancer Society Board, the Executive Board of the Charity League, and served as the chairman of the Charity League Debutante Committee in Albany. In addition, she worked with the Albany Art League.
Although Augusta became her home in 1997, she spent much of her time in the North Georgia mountains at her home on Lake Burton.
She is preceded in death by her husband, James Raymond Miller, Jr, her daughter Virginia Ruth “Bunny” Miller, her son James Raymond Miller, III, and her brothers John Wesley Langdale and William Pope “Billy” Langdale, Sr.
She is survived by her daughter Langdale Miller Nalley, son in law Dr. Logan Nalley, Jr., and grandchildren James Raymond Miller, IV (Marriott), Virginia Nalley Ross, Ivy Lee Nalley, Dr. Logan Nalley, III (Annie), James Harley Nalley, Martha Burton Nalley, Dr. William Tidmore (Jennifer), Laura Wiggins, and Alee Miller (Cliff), and two great grandchildren Virginia Logan Ross and Raymond Miller Ross. She is also survived by her brother Harley Langdale, Jr, and her loving caregivers Julia McDougal, Dorothy Lee, Katherine Bell, and Dorothy Bell Jones.
The family will receive friends at the home of Dr. and Mrs. Logan Nalley, Jr. on Thursday March18, 2010 from 6:00-8:00 in the evening.
Graveside memorial service will be held at Mt. Enon Cemetery, Baconton, Georgia Saturday March 20, 2010 at 11:00 AM.
