Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 23, 2024 at Westover Memorial Park with the Rev. Dr. J. Andrew Menger officiating.
Mrs. Brickle was born in Augusta, GA at the old University Hospital on May 7, 1940 to the late Wiley Louis Huffman and Ruth Lee Benson McAbee Huffman. She attended Sacred Heart Elementary School, Tubman all girls school and then graduated from Richmond Academy. Mrs. Brickle married her childhood sweetheart “Mac” at the age of 16. Mom and dad bought Brickle’s Cleaners from dad’s dad and worked on Crawford Avenue building the business up. To this day mom kept the little black note where they paid Mr. Brickle for the cleaners. Mom and dad were very successful, and they built two more locations. Mom designed the buildings and chose all the wallpaper and chandeliers. They always cleaned US flags for free and discounted policemen’s uniforms. Mrs. Brickle was very big in the Augusta Jaycees and won many awards. She was an excellent dancer and could camel walk and shag like no other. Wiley and Mac loved playing cards and traveling with their closest friends, Connie and Jack McCoy. Mrs. Brickle loved their Winnebago and traveled all over and eventually dad got her dream house at Edisto. She loved walking the beach searching for shark’s teeth and fossils. Mom loved her three children very much and was excited to be a grandmother and even more a great-grandmother. Mrs. Brickle’s friendship runs deep, and she always had excellent advice. She loved her employees and couldn’t say enough about how she loved them.
Mrs. Brickle has lived a wonderful life with her soulmate at her side. She’d tell you that the Lord has always been there for her and he has truly blessed her. Her love for Jesus Christ our Savior is remarkable. Mrs. Brickle has been a member of Reid Memorial Presbyterian Church on Walton Way for many years.
Mrs. Brickle is survived by her three children, William “Bill” McCord Brickle, III (Pamela), Tracy Louis Brickle (Kim) and Lisa Brickle Hogue (Michael); her grandchildren, Holli Nicole Golosky (Walter), McCord Edward Brickle, William Samuel Brickle (Sam), Colin Douglas Brickle, Rebecca Brickle Hogue and Emily McBrayer Hogue; her great-grandchildren, Palmer Golosky Michael Golosky, Hayley Brickle and William Brickle; her brother, Perry Louis Huffman (Lynn); her sister-in-law, Linda Huffman; and by her former daughter-in-law, Kimberly Palmer Pope.
