Mr. William Franklin “Frankie” Smith, Sr

Martinez- Mr. William Franklin “Frankie” Smith, Sr. ,husband of Mrs. Pat Horner Smith, died Wednesday March 19, 2014 at his residence at the age of 71.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, March 21, 2014 at Westover Memorial Park with the Rev. John Johnson officiating.

Frankie graduated from Aquinas in 1961, where he was President of his class, and captain of the football team. He then went on to graduate from the University of Georgia, and was the Director of Budget for MCG until retiring in 2000. He was a loving husband to his wife, Pat, for 48 years. He enjoyed fishing, cheering on the Georgia Bulldogs, watching movies and spending time with all his grandchildren and family.
Frankie was a generous man and always ready with great advice, even when it was unsolicited. He was loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed.

In addition to his wife, Pat, he is survived by a daughter, Sandra Smith Schmieden (Michael) and a son, William “Billy” Franklin Smith, Jr., a sister, Mrs. Emily Smith Capers, three grandchildren , Samantha McCormick Todd (Miles), Kathryn Renee McCormick and William “Logan” McCormick and three great grandchildren, Karis, Peyton and Paislee.

Pallbearers will be Kenny Parrish, Tommy Williams, James Anderson, Steve Adams,Al Slavins, Mike Wren, Bill Jones and Tom Pearre.

The family will receive friends on Thursday evening, March 20, 2014 from 5:00 until 7:00 pm at Platt’s Funeral Home, 337 North Belair Road, Evans, GA.
