William P. "Billy" Tuten

William P. Tuten, 80, beloved husband of Patricia Shipes Tuten, entered into rest on January 1, 2024 at his residence.

Billy was a lifelong servant to the community, working for many years with the Augusta Police Department and later, taking a position at the Veterans Administration Hospital as a Federal Police Officer where he served 25 years before retiring.

Billy’s favorite thing was being outside, gardening and landscaping. Not only did his yard always look perfect, he even helped his neighbors with theirs as well. He also loved being on the lake sharing his love of fishing with his friends and family. Billy was also especially proud of his truck, which he cherished.

Billy had a heart of gold. He loved others unconditionally, which is shown by the number of children that he and Patricia fostered and even adopted as their own over the years.

Billy will be deeply missed, but we will never forget him and the impact he had on our lives.

Billy was preceded in death by his parents James and Ethel Tuten and his daughters Denise and Tyasia Tuten. In addition to his wife Patricia, he is survived by his children Debbie Williams (Kevin), Pam McFadden (Jeff) and Shaneesa Tuten along with many other foster/adopted children that called him “Dad” and that loved him dearly. Additional survivors include (3) brothers and (1) sister, James Tuten (Virginia), George Tuten (RuthAnne), Gerald Tuten (Carol) and Cathy Keane (Don Tyre) and by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, January 5, 2024 at Platt’s Crawford Avenue Chapel with Rev. George Webb officiating. Interment to follow at Westover Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00 pm until service time.
