Augusta, GA – Dr. William T. Lucas, 86, entered into rest on Sunday April 19, 2009 at University Hospital.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday April 22, 2009 at 3:00 PM at Platt’s Crawford Avenue Chapel with the Reverend Talmadge Bowden, M.D. officiating. Interment with military honors to follow at Westover Memorial Park.
Dr. Lucas, a native of Knoxville, TN was a 1943 graduate of Harvard University and a 1947 graduate of the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry in Rochester, New York. He served his internship at Baltimore City Hospitals, Baltimore, MD and served his residency at Watts Hospital, Durham, NC. He was an Army veteran of World War II and served in the United States Air Force as a medical officer during the Korean Conflict. Dr. Lucas was on the teaching faculty of the Medical College of Georgia from 1957 to 1999 as an Associate Clinical Professor in the Department of Surgery (Urology). He was on the staffs at University Hospital, St. Joseph Hospital, and was a charter member of Doctors Hospital. Dr. Lucas was a member of the Richmond County Medical Society, the Medical Association of Georgia, the American Medical Association, and the American Urological Association. He was also a diplomate of the American Board of Urology.
Dr. Lucas was an avid bridge player and was known by many he played with as “Will”. He also loved golf and was a sports car enthusiast who loved to race Porsches.
Dr. Lucas is survived by his loving wife Glenda Holt Lucas. He was preceded in death by his parents William Andrews Lucas and Mary Trent Lucas.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening April 21, 2009 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
