Laura B. Mrs. Mccreary

Mrs. Laura May Balding McCreary, 85, widow of the late August Russell McCreary, entered into rest on Monday, March 3, 2014 at University Hospital.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at 11:00am at Westover Memorial Park with Brother Mark Maddox officiating.

Mrs. McCreary was a long time resident of Martinez and an aspiring artist. She was a volunteer with the Red Cross at Dwight David Eisenhower Army Medical Center with over 19 years of service. In 2008, she was named Volunteer of the Year for the Red Cross, and also received the Lifetime President Service Award for her 4000 hours of volunteer service. She considered the Red Cross her family.

She is survived by her sister, Jean Hurst of Sacramento. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, Lawson and Della Balding, and her sisters, Pauline Orr, Wilma Wilcutt, and Margie Meadows.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening, March 7, 2014 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
